Know your woman leaders: Roshni Nadar Malhotra

The capability of women as leaders have been questioned repeatedly. However, its high time that gender is not used to determine leadership. Decisions on woman leaders must be based on strengths, personality, and the skill one possesses.

Today, we are familiar with the concept of feminist leadership for woman leaders. Feminist leadership is all about building cooperation over competition. Furthermore, it is about enhancing the ideas and skills of whole teams rather than the sole leadership of specific powerful individuals

Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson of HCL technologies

One of the recent women leaders who made headlines is — Roshni Nadar Malhotra, the current chairperson of the $9.9 billion HCL technologies.

Roshni Nadar is the first woman to lead a A-listed IT company in India. The most recently released IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List also listed her as the richest Indian woman. Additionally, the Forbes World’s 100 Most Powerful Women list ranked her 54th on 100.

Roshni Nadar Malhotra was made the vice-chairperson of HCL technologies previously. In July 2020, she took over the company as chairperson. However, the previous chairperson of HCL technologies was the Indian billionaire Shiv Nadar, Roshni Nadar Malhotra’s father.

Roshni Nadar Malhotra had graduated in communication from Northeastern University, Illinois. After graduation, she worked as a news producer at Sky News UK and CNN America.

In 2009, she joined the HCP corp. Within a year she became the executive director and then the CEO of the company. She also founded The Habitats Trust in 2018 focused on protecting India’s natural habitats and indigenous species.

Roshni Nadar Malhotra has received several honours and awards for her work in:

Lastly, its important to note that having more female leaders is important. Female leaders change the perceived conception of what a leader must be. They help break down barriers and inspire the thought that leadership knows no bounds, not even gender.
